The Department for Children, Education, Lifelong Learning and Skills (DCELLS) has a range of programmes aimed at supporting learners in Wales and currently supports in excess of 60,000 individuals on its work based learning (WBL) programmes.
The Department intends to launch a tender process to establish its new network of training providers for up to four years, starting in 2011 and ending in 2015. This network will deliver work based learning training provision on behalf of the Welsh Assembly Government from August 2011.
Through the tender process DCELLS also aims to enhance regional / sub-regional planning of work based learning provision – including alignment with DCELLS’ Transformation policy, and where appropriate, Department for Work and Pensions delivery. DCELLS also aims to facilitate collaboration of training providers and their integration into the 14-19 Learning Partnerships now established in each local authority.
Award Criteria: The tender process will allow for the selection of training providers on grounds of quality (the price is set by the Welsh Assembly Government and future contracts will be allocated based on the Welsh Assembly Government Work Based Learning allocation methodology)
Scheduled start date: 02.08.11
