Jobcentre Plus aims to respond to one of the priorities of the coalition government - public service reform and the devolution of power from the centre to the front line. The Flexible Support Fund (FSF) is intended to help Jobcentre Plus District Managers to deliver elements of the service in the way they see fit for their District. In particular, the FSF enables District Managers to trial different approaches to tackling worklessness. The South London District has identified a need for a training programme that provides claimants with the Information and Communications Technology (ICT) skills to support their job search. The aim of the training programme is to provide: claimants with the knowledge and skills to access ICT devices and services; and support online job search and applications. The provision is aimed at Job Seeker Allowance claimants who have little or no IT skills and who may not require to use these skills in the workplace but need them in order to find and effectively compete for jobs.
